Class description
Intro to Vogue Fem is a class that focuses on introducing the five elements of vogue fem and the cultural context of the form. The five elements of vogue fem are catwalk, duckwalk, hands performance, floor performance, and spins and dips. The cultural context will be sprinkled throughout the class when it is relevant to the element being worked on. Drills for each element will be taught, and then time for improvisation to incorporate the material into your personal style of vogue will be provided. The class will end with an open practice space with time to spotlight each participant from the class.

How I approach my classes
I center my teaching on offering my knowledge and experiences to my students as a tool for learning. I connect the material to my students' understanding instead of as something separate from them that the student has to adapt to. I make sure to contextualize the people, the ideals, and the form’s history to put the movement in relation to the rest of the world. I believe it is essential to understand these contexts in order to practice any dance form at a high level.
